Review:
Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster is an action thriller. The title of the movie might remind you of Guru Dutt's Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, but this movie is totally different and it has its own attitude and identity. The wonderful performances by lead actors, superb script and power-packed dialogue are the major highlights of the film.
Story:
Saheb Aditya Paratap Singh (Jimmy Shergill) is a local King’s kin and like all Nawabs, he has a mistress. His wife Mahadevi aka Chhoti Rani (Mahie Gill) is just a showpiece in the house. Rani feels lonely and is looking for a mate.
Then enters Babloo aka Lalit (Randeep Hooda) who falls in love with Chhoti Rani. He has been plotted in to kill the Saheb but to stay in the palace with Chhoti Rani, he decides to become the king’s aide. Then on Chhoti Rani’s insistence, Babloo kills the mistress only to realize that Rani was using him.
Analysis:
Very few films give you a feeling three hours are less and you want to watch more of it. ‘Sahab Biwi Aur Gangster’ is one of those. The film is an edge of the seat entertainer. You enjoy every moment, every scene and every dialogue in the film. The team has done a fantastic job as far as casting is concerned. The dialogue delivery and scenes look so natural that you don’t feel like you are watching a film. With the backdrop of a small town, Dhulia takes you on a journey to the lives of the characters involved.
Performances:
There is no one in the film who hasn’t performed well. From Mahie Gill to Randeep Hooda to Jimmy Shergill add life to their characters. The three lead cast of the film are the most talented and underrated actors of the industry. Their expressions, timings are beyond good. The supporting cast including Deepal Shaw and Vipin also does their part well.
Technicalities:
The film is absolutely flawless with astounding cinematography. Music is soothing too with Jugni standing out. The background score totally impresses as the screenplay and the story.
Conclusion:
Tigmanshu Dhulia shows his true potential as a filmmaker with Saheb Biwi aur Gangster . There should be no looking back hereon for the talented director. Strongly recommended! In a nutshell, Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster is packed with lots of intrigues, twists and turns that hold the audience of movie buffs and keep them guessing. It is an excellent effort and it should not be missed.
